California Affordable Housing Agency incrediblyrespecially

The California Affordable Housing Agency (CalAHA) was created in 2000 as a Joint Powers Agency (JPA). The reason for creating CalAHA is a simple one: there is strength in numbers. What a small agency may not be able to achieve on its own, it may be able to accomplish through the resources of multiple members.

CalAHA approached each individual project with mindful attention to the mission of member housing authorities and/or their affiliate nonprofit partners as well as the dynamics of the community. This permits CalAHA to serve its members using a three-pronged approach:

Acquisition

CalAHA may acquire, construct, manage, and maintain real property including single and multi-family housing.

Development

In response to the growing affordable housing crisis, CalAHA added a development approach to better assist members. Development services include developing feasibility models, assisting with the structure, design, and financing of a project, all the way through intense construction/project management.

Bond Inssuance

CalAHA may issue essential purpose bonds for the acquisition, rehabilitation, and development of single and multi-family housing.
